\"\"<\/a>Most of us have something<\/em>\u00a0that is, shall we say, a little off the bell curve. Some exquisite oddity that doesn\u2019t quite jibe with the standard perceptions of conformity–whatever those perceptions happen to be\u00a0today.<\/em>\u00a0And now, thanks to modern technology, our \u201cinteresting stuff\u201d appears front and center on the flickering blue screens of our computer thingie-do\u2019s. For all to see.<\/p>\n

This sort of \u201cshow and tell\u201d engenders a myriad of reactions. Snarky stuff, for sure. But on the flip side, there is also a sense of \u201crelief.\u201d Yes, relief\u2026 Because in a world of a few billion people, a hearty chunk of them\u00a0got what we got<\/em>. That\u2019s good news in my book.<\/p>\n

I found this out by writing songs\u2014funny songs about my personal problems and I have slowly changed my attitude from \u201chiding out\u201d and \u201ccovering up\u201d to \u201coh what the hell, let\u2019s celebrate.\u201d Why? Because keeping secrets takes too much energy and I\u2019m exhausted.<\/p>\n

So I have big feet. Which would be fine if I was six\u00a0feet<\/em>\u00a0tall. But you\u2019ve seen the pictures. I need to stand on a fricking box to reach my husband\u2019s neck. \u201cProportion\u201d is not the word that comes to mind. But then again, I do have feet. And they work. So let\u2019s make funny.<\/p>\n

\u201cBig Feet\u201d are on the cover of my new CD \u201cSmile, Smile, Smile\u201d and the song is fast becoming an audience favorite. I recently did a house concert and sure enough folks want to hear the song about my feet. The podiatrist who is standing behind the sofa is especially thrilled and buys a copy for his office. Now\u00a0that\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0a marketing niche I hadn\u2019t considered before\u2026<\/p>\n

But the best part happens later when one woman after another presses her foot against mine and we both giggle at the glorious \u201cbigness\u201d of our shoes. It\u2019s a celebration.<\/p>\n
