Cali Rose loves to sing, accompany herself on ukulele and piano, write songs and do her joyful thing, entertaining audiences big and small. In her shows, she deftly combines great vintage and popular songs with comedy, storytelling and audience participation.
She teaches, leads and writes the arrangements for her ukulele group, The CC Strummers, in Culver City, California. In addition she teaches ukulele classes at Boulevard Music, plays her uke at music therapy sessions with seniors, offers private lessons and writes a popular blog about “Life 101.”
Cali is an award-winning songwriter and a recording artist. Her CD, “Are You Having Any Fun?” features her ukulele picking and was nominated for Best Adult Contemporary Album in the Hawaii Music Awards. Tunes from her comedy CD, “Cali Rose Gets Goofy,” are played on the radio worldwide in Dr. Demento and other comedy circles. Her most recent ukulele CD, “Smile, Smile, Smile,” showcases her upbeat, catchy original songs. There’s lot’s of “feel good” here!
Cali has been a professional musician her whole life. Playing in piano bars taught her valuable skills as an entertainer. Learning about music “on the job” informs her pragmatic approach to teaching. Cali encourages her students to have fun and enjoy learning how to play a musical instrument. It’s a crazy world. We need all the music and laughter we can get.
