“It was an honor to have joined the CCSC Strummers. You have made everything fabulous. Without you it cannot be done…Indeed, my honor and my joy to be working with you. Cannot wait for the next performance……Love your enthusiasm and expertise in entertainment. You are an asset….an inspiration and a great teacher in our Culver City Senior Center. Aloha and Mahalo…”
You had a huge part in it, my friend/mentor. You nurtured/awakened my musical side, and now I’m in 3 (three!) choirs, taking voice lessons (who knew a relaxed jaw gives you resonance?) and all those uke jams, performing (for money!), sounding better than I have in my whole life, and it just keeps getting better!!! “Thank you” feels inadequate, but I mean it with all my heart.
…I really enjoyed the Beginning Ukulele class. You are such an amazing teacher! I so appreciated your talent, teaching style and patience. I also really liked the information filled notebooks and summary emails you sent after every class. You have inspired me to pick up my ukulele every day and play.
Thank you for all you do Cali. Your authenticity and ability to connect with so many is heartwarming and wonderful.
Everyone loves you. We laugh and laugh. Thanks for introducing me (and everyone else) to the ukulele.
Thank you for all your amazing efforts throughout the year. Your efforts and actions are absolutely phenomenal! Almost outside of human range. Thank you for your fortitude and commitment to making this world a better place. You do! You truly make a difference!
“By the way, your tunes are very danceable – we’ve tried and they work well!”
“…thank you so much for sending me your CD. I love the music and it makes me smile to hear your voice. You are a very gifted siger/musician/entertainer. I’m glad your carrer is moving along. Thank you for all the happiess your music has brought me over the years…
Your latest CD is still my favorite and I always queue it up on the IPod first when we get airborne – puts me in the right mood and calms me down…not that the pre-departure cocktail wasn’t kicking in by then, but you are much purer sense of peace and calm. Maybe I shouldn’t say purer…I mean, Whoa!, check out the clam shells on Cali in Hawaii!! Regardless your voice is incredible.”
I joined your class shortly after my husband passed away suddenly. Taking your class alleviated my mourning process because I had something fun to do each week and was happy to be in your class. For that, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for teaching me how to play ukulele. It was a lot of fun when we sang and played ukulele together in the class. It was even more enjoyable because you held the class with so much enthusiasm and humor.
Thank you again and take good care of yourself.
“I LOVE the CD!!!! I am on my second listen and this morning I found myself just smiling. I actually have felt “not so happy” lately and then a series of things, your CD being one of them, turned on the happy inside. My favorites so far: This Morning Something Wonderful, Big Feet, There’s a Little Goodbye in Ev’ry Hello, and Boogie Down. Thank you so much.”
Lookin’ for some smiles in your day? Cali Rose’s new album Smile, Smile, Smile lives up to its name. All original tunes backed by mad uke skills… this is the kind of music that’ll turn your day around, guaranteed. If you have an appetite for tunes with a sense of humor, Cali is yer “go to” gal.
Love love love your blogging! You give me useful tips. My continuing education goes on.
Cali Rose shows her versatility with this CD. She strums, picks, and sings her way into your heart with a combination of fun little ditties, love songs, and a few classics. I love “True Love,” “Beautiful, Beautiful Hanalei,” and “Soup Du Jour.” Those three songs were just wonderful. Kudos to Jim Beloff and Herb Ohta for “Soup Du Jour.” That was the highlight of the album. I do want to acknowledge Cali Rose’s “Home Is Where I Set My Tushie Down.” It is a tune with cute lyrics and a meaning that is inspirational. This CD was a very nice mix of tunes and styles. If you like upbeat, positive, happy songs, this CD is for you. Read the entire review (in PDF) from Ukulele Player Magazine, Issue 7, August 2009
“I listened to “Are You Having Any Fun?” and I truly had fun listening. I laughed and nearly cried. Your music Cali gives so much, a whole philosophy, your personality, as well as pleasure. I so enjoyed.”
Thank you so much Cali for bringing the uke into my life – much better than Prozac. I wanted you to know I bought a Toys R Us uke for my 3 year old granddaughter. I’m hooked and practice every day. If Congress could take ukulele lessons from you, we could all get along! Thanks Cali, for your music and sharing the uke with us.
Thanks to you and your wonderful group again for your performance yesterday at the Culver City Woman’s club. You and your players have a lot of personality to go with your musical expertise. You have obviously brought a lot of joy into their lives and into ours yesterday. A special day for all of us.
