Eeny, Meeny, Mighty Mo

Hubby and I, partners in love and ukulele, are heading east to the land where there is a three hour time difference.

We’re meeting with the riotous Indy Ukers of Indianapolis, Indiana, on Wednesday evening, July 18 from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. to play, sing, teach a little and have one glorious Kanikapila of a time. Joy central is The Sam Ash Music Store (located at 8284 Center Run Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46250).

And everyone is welcome. Even if you don’t play the ukulele, you can join the fun!

Then we are driving to New Haven, Missouri, which is west of St. Louis, for the Mighty Mo Ukulele Festival, July 20 through July 22, where we’ll be teaching and performing. It is held at the beautiful Cedar Creek Conference Center so there is time to take in the greenery, delicious food and the utter pleasure of hanging out with the nicest people in the world. Ukulele people. Did I mention there is a swimming pool!!!! Midnight swim here I come.

There is still room in the inn, but tickets are going fast. You can also attend all day Saturday and/or the evening concert which includes special performances by three mystery ukulele players, the very popular local band, the Flea Bitten Dawgs (owwwww!) and our set. I promise to do my one and only hit, “It’s A P.M.S Kind of Day” because all that bad-news girlie stuff sounds so much sweeter on the ukulele.

We are looking forward to making new friends in the Midwest. On a personal note, I will be meeting my new family of cousins for the first time. Only recently did we find each other, thanks to Google and Facebook. They are all musicians and I expect we’ll have a Kanikapila of our own. A very emotional one. The story of all this “coming together” could fill a book. You know about families… The faces in the mirror, the faces in the old photographs that whisper across time, the stories, the “mythology.” That stuff.

So we’re packing “our stuff” and are on our way. More stories to come…

Have a great time. I’m anxious to read all about it when you get back. BTW your CC Strummers did a great 3rd of July show.

Safe travels! I know you will have a wonderful time. Go show those lively mid-westerners how we play it Cali-fornia style!
    Love,
    Joe
